I keep seeing this Defend Pop Punk stuff and I don’t get it. I know it’s from that band Man Overboard, but like… Pop punk doesn’t need defending. Especially these days, where it’s so polished and catchy. When that album Sticks and Stones by NFG came out, all the preppy kids and all the jocks ate it up. Especially nowadays when bands are getting co-writers to help them with their songs. C’mon.

I say all this AS A FAN of pop punk. It’s one of my favorite genres. I’m older, so I like the sloppier, more Ramones-esque stuff, but I also like a lot of the stuff coming out now. I just think it’s a little silly to act like pop punk is dying, because it’s not.

You know who needs defending? Ska. That’s right. I’ll pick up that torch and carry it through the night. I’ll pickituppuckituppickitup.
